Teacher makes a million in Second Life A Chinese teacher has become the first real-life millionaire to make her fortune from virtual business in an online world, a report says. Graef, who spun her online business into a Wuhan, China, based real-world enterprise called Anshe Chung Studios, made her fortune buying and selling plots of virtual land -- comprised of 3D simulations hosted on 550 networked computers -- that participants in the virtual environment shell out between $100 and $1,000 to own. Much like real-world property developers, Graef uses her Anshe Chung avatar to buy large blocks of virtual land and then improves and subdivides the plots that she then resells or rents. |
